Due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, many displaced families are living in manually assembled tents without proper roofing. These tents lack adequate protection from rain, wind, heat, and cold, exposing families to severe environmental and health risks.
BeHuman Community proposes an emergency humanitarian project to provide PVC (leather) tarpaulin roof covers, which are durable, waterproof, and suitable for harsh weather conditions, to improve temporary shelter conditions for the most vulnerable displaced families.
2. Problem Statement
Displaced families living in manually assembled tents face:
Lack of waterproof and weather-resistant roofing.
Water leakage during rainfall, leading to unsafe and unhealthy living conditions.
Extreme exposure to sun and cold temperatures.
Increased vulnerability to illness, especially among children, elderly, and sick individuals.
The absence of proper roofing significantly undermines safety, health, and human dignity.
3. Project Objectives
General Objective:
To improve emergency shelter conditions for displaced families in Gaza by providing PVC (leather) tarpaulin roof covers for manually assembled tents.
Specific Objectives:
To supply and install leather/PVC tarpaulin roof covers for 10 displaced families.
To protect tents from rain, wind, heat, and cold.
To enhance safety, privacy, and dignity for vulnerable households.
To reduce health risks related to inadequate shelter.
4. Target Beneficiaries
Number of Beneficiaries: 10 families.
Targeting Criteria:
Displaced families residing in manually assembled tents.
Families without any existing roof cover.
Families classified as highly vulnerable (large households, children, elderly, or medical cases).
Families not supported by other shelter or roofing interventions.
⚠️ Note: The project specifically targets assembled tents only, not ready-made or prefabricated tents.
5. Project Activities
Field assessment and selection of the most vulnerable families.
Procurement of high-quality PVC (leather) tarpaulin sheets suitable for long-term outdoor use.
Preparation of installation materials (ropes, supports, fixing tools).
Installation of tarpaulin roof covers on targeted tents.
Post-installation monitoring to ensure safety and durability.
6. Project Duration
Implementation Period: 1-2 working days, subject to field access and security conditions.
7. Expected Outcomes and Impact
Weather protection for 10 displaced families.
Improved safety and health conditions inside tents.
Reduced exposure to rainwater, extreme heat, and cold.
Enhanced dignity and psychological stability for beneficiaries.
Strengthened humanitarian solidarity through community-based action.
8. Implementing Organization
BeHuman Community
A volunteer-led humanitarian initiative committed to supporting displaced and vulnerable communities in Gaza through practical, dignity-centered relief interventions.
9. Sustainability
PVC (leather) tarpaulin covers are durable, reusable, and weather-resistant. With proper maintenance, they can provide continued protection over an extended displacement period.
10. Conclusion
This project offers a practical and impactful solution to a critical shelter need faced by displaced families in Gaza. By providing leather/PVC tarpaulin roof covers, BeHuman Community aims to improve living conditions, reduce suffering, and uphold human dignity during ongoing humanitarian challenges
