This project aims to distribute 30 comprehensive maternal health kits to pregnant and breastfeeding women living in displacement camps in Khan Younis, Gaza Strip.
Due to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, women—especially pregnant and lactating mothers—face severe shortages of hygiene items, health supplies, and basic necessities. These shortages increase the risk of infections, pregnancy complications, and postpartum mental health challenges.
The project will be implemented across three camps and will include the distribution of essential hygiene and maternal care items, as well as a printed educational booklet on postpartum depression, to promote both physical and mental well-being.
Background and Justification
Pregnant and breastfeeding women are among the most vulnerable groups during humanitarian emergencies. In Gaza, displacement, overcrowded living conditions, limited access to clean water, and restricted health services have placed maternal health at serious risk.
Women in displacement camps often lack basic hygiene items, postpartum care supplies, and adequate information on maternal mental health—particularly postpartum depression, which is often unrecognized and untreated.
Maternal Health Kits Distribution for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women
This project responds to an urgent need to support maternal dignity, hygiene, and health by providing integrated maternal health kits and awareness materials to women most in need.
